LEIDEN UNIVERSITY EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIPS (LEXS) FOR THE 2021-2022 SESSION

Leiden University yet again make studying easy for international students in Netherlands. Leiden University Excellence Scholarship 2021 provides financial aid worth of €15,000 for Masters students. Selected applicants will recieve the prize money every year.

Founded in 1575, Leiden University one of the best research universities in Europe and is located in Rapenburg 70, 2311 EZ Leiden, Netherlands.

There are currently over 28,000 students studying in Leiden University, and presently employed are about 7,000 employees.

Master's degree program.

Eligible Courses

All the courses available under Masters program are eligible. This include all courses under the faculties listed below:

• Governance and Global Affairs.
•  Archaeology.
• Science. 
• Medicine/LUMC.
• African Studies Centre.
• Law.
• International Institute for Asian Studies.
• Humanities
• Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Scholarship Duration

The duration for which selected applicants will benefit from this varies. This might be:

• 1 year for a course that will be completed within 12 months of study.
• 2 years for a course that will be completed within 24 months of study.

Scholarship value and inclusions

The following benefits will be enjoyed by selected applicants of the Leiden University Excellence Scholarships (LexS) 2021-2022:

• €15,000 will be paid out of the tuition fees.
• €10,000 will be paid out of the tuition fees.
• Non payment of statutory tuition fee.

Eligible Nationality

This partly funded financial aid is open to all international students (except EEA/EFTA nationals). Interested applicants must be ineligible for Studiefinanciering (the Dutch system of study grants and loans).

However, there are no exceptions for the Advanced Masters study option. All international students are eligible.

Who is not eligible for the Leiden University Excellence Scholarships (LexS)?

The following situations will make interested applicants ineligible for this partly funded financial aid. See details below:

• If the selected applicant changes his/her course of study to another one other than the one he/she made mention of when applying for the scholarship, he/she will no longer benefit from the scholarship.
• If the selected applicant decides to postpone the commencement of his/her study till the next upcoming academic session, he/she will no longer benefit from the (LexS) scholarship.
• If the selected applicant decides to have an additional scholarship with the LexS Scholarship, it must not be a fully funded one. If the student obtains a fully funded scholarship, the LexS will no longer be needed and it will be automatically discontinued.
• Selected applicants are not allowed to combine scholarships owned by Leiden University.

Deadline for the Leiden University Excellence Scholarships (LexS) 2021-2022

The deadline for the LexS 2021-22 is February 1st 2021 for the first batch of the year (already expired). The upcoming batch will be closed on October 1st, 2021 (still open).
